Over the course of the last month, NSSF has received hundreds of calls from media wanting comment on everything from increasing gun sales to bullet serialization; however, one media call NSSF did not receive was from the Washington Post regarding a story on an anti-gun “study” by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) coalition. Not surprisingly, the Post piece was chock-full of errors. To set the record straight, we hope the Post runs the Letter to Editor we submitted. Just in case they don’t, here’s a sneak peek:
Of course, a lot of these new Democrats in the House and Senate are A-rated by the NRA, and plenty more are B-rated. But there is now at least some chance of gun control legislation getting through Congress, a reason for gun owners to be wary of the new Congress. A few who insisted that Democrats would never make a move on this issue are beginning to sweat a little bit.
They ought to sweat. A lot of prominent Democrats are going to have egg on their faces if Obama follows through on his platform in regards to guns. We know he only supports common-sense gun safety laws, and that’s exactly what we’re afraid of.
Story here. As the author notes, the guys who do this face two risks. (1) Getting killed by the targets, who are now into background checks! (2) Being ruined by backstabbing superiors, as has happened to agents in the past if the operation wasn’t 100% successful. Then it goes to finger-pointing, and the guys at the bottom of the bureaucratic food chain wind up on the receiving end.
Here is a great post from The Firearm Blog regarding a nice looking weapons platform. The SIG 556 fits the bill:
New SIG 556 Classic (550 “Clone”)
Earlier this month SIG announced an the new SIG 556 Classic. The design is modeled on the SIG 550. From what I can see the primary difference is the swiss style folding stock and polymer handguard.
I am surprised they did not duplicate the “classic” 550 handguard exactly since the main selling point of this rifle is the look. It does not include the 550 integral bipod.
Time left until we can affect change on the U.S. Congress
The liberal Congress was elected 2 months and 1 day ago. Our opportunity to vote again occurs in 1 year, 9 months, and 28 days.
We are currently 8.7% complete with the reign of the Democrats
Time Until we can enact change in the U.S. Presidency
The ignorant masses elected an inexperienced quasi-socialist president 2 months and 1 day ago. We have to guard our democratic freedoms 3 years, 10 months, and 1 day until we can elect someone better. We are currently 4.3% complete.
